Founded in 1950 by design legends Eero Saarinen and Charles and Ray Eames, GOOD DESIGN® remains the world's most prestigious and longest-running program for design excellence. A distinguished jury, comprised of leading design professionals and industry specialists, evaluates entries based on criteria established by the founders, including innovative design, functionality, aesthetics, and environmental sensitivity.

Which Cold Plunge features caught the attention of the jury? Its versatility, for starters. Designed for seamless integration across the entire Hydro Systems’ collection (including freestanding, alcove and drop-in tubs), the system is suitable for a variety of project applications, ranging from residential to hospitality. How did the company accomplish this feat? A remote chiller that does not need to be installed near the tub. Next, customers and designers can customize a cold plunge tub based on size, color, finish or style, ensuring seamless integration with virtually any aesthetic or project requirements. The technologically savvy system can also be combined with other therapy options in the Hydro Systems portfolio, such as Whirlpool, Indulge, Air Bath and chromatherapy options— giving the end user the option of enjoying a rejuvenating cold plunge in the morning and a relaxing hot or whirlpool bath in the evening…all in a single tub. Finally, Hydro Systems’ proprietary water-chilling system with advanced ozone, UV sanitization and water filtration is innovation, manifest: it disinfects the water and keeps it clean so it can remain in the tub for up to five days.

"A GOOD DESIGN® Award is the most coveted accolade in product design, so we regard it as an incredible honor,” said Ken Steinhardt, Hydro Systems’ marketing director. “Innovation is at the heart of everything we do at Hydro Systems, so being recognized for our design-driven hydrotherapy solutions is especially gratifying.”
